Kilnagross N.S. are currently working towards attaining our first Active School Flag.
What is the Active School Flag?
The Active School Flag is a Department of Education and Skills initiative supported by Healthy
Ireland. The Active School Flag is awarded to schools that strive to achieve a physically
educated and physically active school community. The process aims to get more schools, more
active, more often. Our challenge will be to find interesting and exciting ways to energise the
school day because active children are happy learners!
Our Active School Flag Committee
Our Active School Committee is made up of students from 1st-6th Class. The committee
members attend ASF meetings, plan exciting events in the school, organise the P.E. equipment
and encourage everyone to be more active. The committee organised a slogan and poster
competition in our school. There were so many fantastic entries and it was very difficult to
choose a winner. There were three finalists chosen who all received ‘active prizes’. The overall
winning slogan was ‘Don’t be lazy, Exercise like Crazy’. Well done to everyone for taking part.
