The children in the Senior Room were very busy during this year’s Science Week, and constructed various modes of machinery to align with STEM and hydraulics. These machines displayed the science behind hydraulics systems and how the connection of two syringes and water can transfer force and cause motion. They learned that pressure applied to one syringe is transmitted through water/fluid to move the other syringe, causing the machine’s buckets/arms to move up and down and back and forth.
The children also created a Farm Windmill Kit, which allowed them to wire up a motor to spin the blades and add glowing LED lights. They learned how to connect a motor, switches and LEDs while improving on problem solving, wiring, and basic engineering concepts.
